The Story

A Journey Nobody Saw Coming

Darío Vega is thirty-three and has a peculiar problem: whenever he hears a particular voice, his brain stops recording what is happening around him.

He can keep walking, talking and behaving as though nothing is wrong. But afterwards, entire moments of his life are simply missing.

When he arrives at a facility near the Tabernas Desert, he meets Miguel and Gabriel. Three very different men, each carrying secrets and trying to escape something from his past.

Then an unexpected piece of news turns everything upside down.

What follows is an absurd plan: escape from the clinic, cross Andalusia and somehow reach Seville.

Without money, without a car and without the slightest idea of how to make it happen.

But an improbable adventure soon becomes something far more complicated. Between unexpected encounters, forgotten memories, uncomfortable truths and spectacularly bad decisions, the three men discover that the road has a way of exposing everything they hoped to leave behind.

With sharp dialogue, dark humour, absurd situations and moments of unexpected tenderness, In Seville, It Rains Backwards brings together deeply imperfect characters in a journey that refuses to follow anyone’s plans.

Because sometimes the most difficult part of a journey isn’t reaching your destination.

It’s discovering what you’ve been running from all along.

“Sometimes the road doesn’t take us far away. It leads us straight back to the place we never wanted to return to.”
